How to Meet Someone This Summer: Try Something New

Summer is here and it is a great time to find love. The weather is warm, people spend more time out of doors, thoughts turn to time off from work, peaceful and fun outings, and the pace of life slows down a bit. This is the perfect time to meet someone new.

So, where should you go to meet someone? There are all of the usual places, of course: parties, bars, work, summer houses, online dating. But, this summer I encourage you to use your imagination and try something new. Doing the usual will likely reap the usual. Try something new and see what it brings.

Is there an activity you have always wanted to try, something you have always wanted to learn how to do, an interest you have always wanted to pursue? Now is the perfect time to start. Sailing, volleyball, painting, wine tasting, yoga, floral design, Chinese, unicycle riding. The possibilities are endless. Engaging in a new activity or learning a new subject gives you new energy, happiness and enthusiasm for life.

It is easy to push away the desire for new learning when you are busy with work and all of the tasks and responsibilities of daily living. But, meeting someone new, whose path you would not otherwise cross, can be the added bonus to trying a new activity that enlivens your spirit and gives you something new to smile about. Meeting someone who shares a common interest is a great start to an exciting relationship. You will have at least one fun thing to talk about.

A woman who took this advice tried a class she always wanted to try: rock climbing. She met someone in her class who was not in the same field as she, who was not from her town, not from her college, not a friend of a friend. She loved learning to rock climb. And....this man eventually became her husband.
